Most of my time is spent consulting with mums about the best essential oils for their kids to help with sleep, teething, sickness and other issues. Very few of us mums actually stop long enough to ask what we could use to help ourselves. The reality is that the healthier we are, the more energy we have to give to our family. The more rest we have, the more patient we can be with our kids.

So, how can we use essential oils to help us personally? There are so many ways, but here are my top 5!
AromaTouch essential oil – Personally I keep a bottle of this oil in the bathroom cupboard and add a few drops to a bath or a foot soak. It has such an amazing scent and it always helps me feel relaxed.
dōTERRA’s proprietary AromaTouch® Massage Blend combines our essential oils of Cypress Leaf, Peppermint, Marjoram, Basil, Grapefruit and Lavender in a perfect blend which adds many important benefits to various massage techniques.
Uses:
• Apply to neck and shoulders to promote feelings of relaxation and comfort or use with carrier oil for massage.
• Give your loved one a hand massage using the AromaTouch® Hand Technique and AromaTouch® essential oil blend.
• Add to Epsom salts and enjoy soaking in a hot bath.
Peppermint essential oil – Personally I add this oil to my morning version of my homemade body wash – I love the fresh smell that clears my airways and energises me for the day ahead.
The peppermint plant is a hybrid of watermint and spearmint and was first described by Carl Linneaus in 1753. A high menthol content – like that found in the dōTERRA Peppermint essential oil – distinguishes the best quality Peppermint from other products.
Uses:
• Rub on the bottoms of feet to keep that fresh smell and feeling all day.
• Apply to skin imperfections.
• Use to cleanse skin and nails when needed.
• Apply a small amount to hands and rub together for cleansing benefit.
Clarycalm Roll-On – Personally I use this roll-on if I know I’m particularly stressed or if I need help calming down ready for sleep in the evenings. It just smells beautiful!
dōTERRA’s ClaryCalm Monthly Blend for Women is a proprietary blend of CPTG® essential oils: Clary Sage, Lavender, Bergamot, Roman Chamomile, Ylang Ylang, Cedarwood, Geranium, Fennel, carrot seed, palmarosa and vitex.
Uses
• During your menstrual cycle, apply to abdomen to experience a soothing and calming massage.
• During moments of heat, apply to the skin for a cooling, soothing effect.
• Diffuse for a calming aroma that helps soothe heightened emotions.
Whisper essential oil – This is my favourite blend to use a perfume! I add about 10 drops to some Organic Fractionated Coconut Oil in a roller bottle and apply it to the usual spots (neck and wrists) whenever I’m heading out.
dōTERRA Whisper Blend for Women is a complex and diverse blend that combines with each individual’s chemistry to create a uniquely personal fragrance. Each essential oil in the blend provides an inviting aroma of its own, but when combined, these oils offer a distinct scent that intrigues the senses of both the wearer and those passing by.
Uses
• Apply to wrists, back of neck, and pulse points for a distinct and individual fragrance.
• Diffuse or add to clay pendants for a unique aromatic experience.
• Dispense one to two drops in the palm of the hand and rub on clothing, scarves, and coats to experience calming emotions throughout the day.
Adaptiv essential oil – Personally I use this blend in a few different ways and I really think it’s amazing! I add it to my bath, I take a capsule of it when I know I’m having a particularly stressful day ahead or it I need to calm down from a day of stress, and I carry the spray in my handbag in case I need it while I’m out.
Lavender, Magnolia, Neroli, and Sweetgum provide stress-relieving effects while Wild Orange and Spearmint energize and uplift. Copaiba and Rosemary soothe anxious feelings to round out the calming blend. Whether you’re feeling fatigued or restless, indecisive or irritable, Adaptiv Calming Blend is part of the toolbox to help the body and mind to stay balanced.
Uses
• Add Adaptiv Bath Oil to destress at the end of the day.
• Spray Adaptiv Mist onto your pillow before you lay down to sleep.
• Keep Adaptiv Touch in your handbag and apply to back of neck when stress hits.
• Add a few drops of Adaptiv essential oil blend to your diffuser at work to calm.
• Take 1 Adaptiv capsule in the morning before heading to work for the day to reduce anxious feelings.
